Super Mario World 1-1 to 1-3 Walkthrough
World 1-1
Step 1
The Mega Mushroom transforms Mario into an impervious behemoth who obliterates every enemy or obstacle in his path. The damage you cause will earn you 1-Ups, but if you destroy everything you won’t be able to climb the vines or enter the pipe at Point B. You can always come back and do them next time.
Step 2
Hit the invisible blocks from below and jump from them to hit a block that sends a vine into the clouds. Climb to the heavens, where you can jump through a red-coin ring to reveal eight red coins – grab them all withing a few seconds to earn an item.
Step 3
To get the final Star Coin, use a Ground Pound as any large version of Mario. Mega Mario can smash through with a normal jump, but it will break your 1-Up earning momentum.
World 1-2
Step 1
If you are Super Mario-sized, you can use a Ground Pound and hold down to smash through this entire column of blocks.
Step 2
Grab the Starman from the Invisible Block and start running at the Piranha Plant, Koopas, and Goombas – if you can chain enough enemy kills before the effect wears off, you will earn a 1-Up.
Step 3
Knock over the Koopa and kick its shell to smash through the blocks are gone, do a dashing crouch to squeeze beneath the pipe to the other side, where a Mega Mushroom awaits. After Mega Mario destroys all the blocks and Goombas, repeatedly Ground-Pound the pipe for coins.
Step 4
To get the nearby power up, grab a Koopa shell by jumping onto a Koopa while holding the dash button, which allows you to pick up the shell automatically. Stand on the left side of the lower pipe and kick the shell to the right to expose the item.
At the last teeter-totter, if you wait on the left side to raise the right side, you can jump from the right edge to the ceiling. Go right to find a second pipe out of the level and the third Star Coin. This exit creates an alternate route on the world map, which leads to a red Toad house and provides a shortcut to the World 1 tower.
World 1-3
Step 1
Jump on the Spin Block to propel yourself to the upper level, where a second Spin Block will send you soaring to a trampoline-like fuchsia mushroom. Bounce into a Star Coin and glide down the path of coins to find another.
Step 2
The mushroom platforms in this area rise and fall, and you will want to leap through the red-coin ring so you will land on the first platform when it is near its apex. That should put the other platforms in the eight positions to let you collect the red coins in time.
